Too Much of Everything But Sleep

Pretty big weekend. I had two friends come up... Giles from Tampa Bay and Rick from Seattle.

Friday night we had a late dinner at some Irish bar on restaurant row (46 and 8th). We then went to a piano bar called Don't Tell Mama. Rick enjoys singing and took took the mic a couple of times.

We met a table of five women from Louisanna. It was a good time. Courtney had me at "where y'all from?" Unfortuantely, I never had Courtney.

We got back to my apartment at 4:30.

Saturday morning we got out of the apartment at around 12:30 and headed down to Ground Zero. After walking around it, we came back to apartment and watched some football. Had dinner at Rosa Mexicana the went back to Don't Tell Mama, to meet up with the southern girls.

A little more about Don't Tell Mama. It's an old-fashioned piano bar. The piano player plays and sings. The wait staff and bartenders pretty much take turns singing pop songs and showtunes. The employees also have mics at the bar and walk around with them so they can join in at anytime. In other words, it's kinda gay. But, it's still fun.

So, anyway, we hooked up with Lousiana ladies again. This time there were an additional four. Apparently, this group of three sisters and their six daughters take an annual trip to New York for shopping, shows and fun. They're old money-live in mansions-wearing fur-kind of chicks. Two of them, Courtney and her sister Lauren were flat out hot. Three of them were 55+ years old. The other four were decent looking, but nothing special.

I'm a sucka for a southern accent, yo. And they brought a drawl like nobody's business.

At some point you'd think I'd follow the old adage, Go Ugly Early... go for the 'sure thing' not the 'hot thing.' Oh well.

Once again, we got back to my apartment at around 4:30.

Woke up at 11:30 and went to the Sonics - Knicks game. We had press passes and watched the game from the press box. We lost, but it was very entertaining.

After the game, we walked up to the ESPN Zone, ordered some wings and watched the first half of the Steelers - Bengals game. At halftime we came back my apartment. Giles grabbed a cab to the airport. And Rick is sleeping on my couch.

End of weekend. I'm exhausted.

I love Rosa Mexicana. Always make sure to stop by there when in NY.
